Dr. Emily Spotts is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Toledo whose research aims to improve patient health in response to medical treatments through the lens of psychosocial interventions. Much of her work has focused on communication strategies to reduce the experience of nocebo side effects and increase placebo responding.

She earned her B.A. from the University of Toledo in Psychology (Minor: Chemistry) in 2020 and received her Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology (Minor: Quantitative Psychology) from the University of Toledo in 2026. In her free time, Emily enjoys reading, listening to music, and spending time with her husband and daughter.
