Broadly speaking, the goal of my research is to understand how people evaluate themselves and their lives by comparing themselves to others and contemplating their futures. Both of these basic processes—social comparison and future-directed thought—are essential for identity formation, goal pursuit, health promotion and prevention, decision-making, and emotion regulation.
